Who Is The Artist Behind The Logo
THE BEGINNING: It started in the year 1992 when the artist put himself into a position to be charged with a crime. And although the truth was confessed in court that it never happend (for which i'm forever grateful they told the truth, thank you). The system once again did what it does best, and therefore like millions before, he ultimately was convicted for a crime in which he did not commit, and was incarcerated to serve a term of 2 -10 years in prison. Needless to say that because of the unjust incarceration, inmate 228147 was not a model prisoner. Recieving dozens of disciplinary infractions (tickets), placed in the Hole (solitary confinement) several times for negative conduct towards prison staff etc. During this incarceration he was denied parole several times for simply refusing to admit to the crime that he did not commit. Some would say, why not just say yes and be released? After all your freedom was on the line. While that may seem like a no brainer to most. It was about the principle of the Truth. Why lie on yourself just to appease the system.
Prison is not a resort, its meant to be a place of discipline, rehabilitation, and some deserve to be there. But also during this incarceration, there was the unfortunate oppourtunity to see different men from all walks of life and circumstances. Every religion and every race of men. Sons, brothers, uncles, fathers. Lived with men that will never see freedom again because of bad decisions. Watched some men given the chance go home, and watched those same men return. Also witness the death of men before that chance to go home. Its easy to get caught up in the perils of prison and lose yoursef in the chaos and discord that is prison life. However. You wouldnt wish it upon your worst enemy. And after spending 10 straight years in prison for a crime he did not commit? He had survived... maintained his sanity... kept his... "Composhure"
The New Corrupt: 2002 after 10 years of hardship it was time to go home with a fresh chance at life. But the System had another trick up its sleeve. On the vey day of being released from prison and before he could even walk out a "free" man. He was handed a piece of paper letting me know tha he had a warrant for his arrest for failing to pay child support during his 10 years of incarceration. And because he did not pay child support during that 10 year incarceration he owed $121,000 in back arrears. Yes. One Hundred Twenty One Thousand dollars. And with that. The next level of this journey had begun.
Regardless the fact that he was even charged the child support while locked up. Because of his inability to put a significant dent in the $121,000 in back child support, the powers that be had placed him in jail several times since his release 2002. Ultimately he was forced to take a plea for 2 erroneous felonies for that back child support debt, or go back to prison for an additional 5 year term. The irony is that he "plead guilty" to the charges of accumulating $121,000 worth of child support WHILE in prison for 10 years. However. Unlike the first time where he was "Not Guilty" and refused to take even a misdemeanor charge, this time his hands were tied. This was 100% a no win scenario. Because although they knew he was In prison when all that money was accumulated, they said he still owed the money anyway. So either agree to pay the money or go back to prison for 5 years. That was 2012.
Over another decade later he is not "physically" incarcerated because of that plea. Because of that plea and in order to avoid another unjust incarceration he must pay and has continued to pay to this day, "hundreds" of dollars a month in child support. Even though the youngest child of that support order is a mother of 4 herself. It would maybe hit a little different if the adult children were the ones who actually recieved the monthly support. They do not. Instead however. The System has enabled the mother of those adult children to recieve "that money". Even allow the taking of his tax returns etc., But thats another story for another day about the Child Support System .
MASS INCARCERATION is a real thing in the United States of America. So many men, women and children are forced to be a part of a system that is designed to fail you. That this systematic problem can destroy the lives of individulals and their families, forever. Everyone can't speak or be heard. Everyone doesnt share the same path in life. Compos)(ure has had some major trials and tribulations, some of them self inflicted, but yet make no excuses. Your supposed to learn and grow. And teach and show others how to do the same.
"The Tuth Will Set You Free". Those are words to live by. Who better to understand the validaty of such a statement, than one who lives and endure the reality and signifacance of such a precious statement.
The journey of Composhure to get to this point began 32 years ago. If he could go back in time and change the outcome and not have to endure how it effects his life today would he? No. Because it will still start off with being "Not Guilty" of a crime that didn't exist. Yes. He is embarrassed by the circumstances surrounding him being incacerated 1992. But he is not ashamed of something that he did not do. One thing that he's learned about himself. He's strong, resilient, and forgiving. The powers that be have not broken his spirit, have not deminished his faith in the overall goodness of people. For throughout all the nonsense, the crap, the outright dirtiness of how the penal system can be. He has remained constant in who he is. He has kept his "composure".
The name of Composhure is the description of his character and how he lives his life today. Music is a part of his DNA, and the fabric of what makes him. For all his life music has been his getaway, his passion. And while he has created music for others in the past. This journey has brought him to this point to be in the forefront, and to be a voice to be heard.
*AMILLIONMUGZ : While COMPOSHURE has been able to strive and flourish inspite of the challenges and difficulties for being a 3x convicted felon, there are others who can not. Therefore he has an obligation to be their voice. To lead by the example of second chances. Because while he does not consider himself to be your conventional felon. He is a convicted felon just the same. He is a part of the official statistics. He is One of Millions. He represents that side of society and all the stigma that comes along with it.
Spelled with an "H". The H is for being Humbled by all the different things that life has thrown his way, without him losing his way.
