Who Is The Artist Behind The Logo
Every Success Story has A Beginning. Most of the time it begins with a dream, followed by a passion and a determination to pursue that dream. This story of success is no different. The journey may have taken a different path, but the story is always the same for the most part. Pitfalls, downfalls, trials and tribulations, etc. Every success story has an element of opportunity that wasnt expected but yet a neccessary component that would ultimately lead to the dreams becoming a reality. Even if the dream was a nightmare.
THE BEGINNING: The artist was born and raised in Michigan, in a small town called Albion located in the "I-BLOCK517" district of Calhoun County. After graduating high school in 83, he joined the Army (Reserves). After Basic training at Fort Jackson SC and completing his classified AIT (Advanced Individual Training) as an Radio Teletype Operator in Fort Gordon GA (shout-out to Bravo Company), his return to Calhoun County would take him to the Cereal City of BattleCreek.
Battle Creek "The Creek" is where he would make a name for himself by creating music and beats. There, he would be known by the nickname "Easy" (way before the most famous "Easy-E" of "NWA" was introduced to the music world). He enjoyed creating music for his friends and other "starving artist" and music groups who were looking to make it. Did he have ideas about being a star himself? Yes. For a while the ambition to be in the music industry was the goal and it seemed like a sure thing. That was until, as the elders would say... his nose would become "open" in love and for a while music became more of a hobby and it was placed on the back burner.
The Fantasy: In a short time the artist now in his mid 20's was the father of 3 little girls, a young man happy in life. There was nothing that you could do or say that would derail him, for he was in love, and feeling on top of the world. His love of music still burned within and the pursuit of that happiness was plausible. When you believe that you have a gift, and that gift deserves to be shared with the world, nothing is more satisfying when you have the motivation that inspires you, and nothing motivated him more than love and his children. So the dream to be great was very much alive. His focus to become great was full steam ahead. Not only could he feel his dream, he could see that dream on the horizon. Sometimes you can be blinded by unrealistic dreams.
The Year : 1992 would change everything... including dreams. Its hard to believe that you don't know yourself until something happens that shows you who you are. For him? 1992 would be that moment in time where everything he thought of himself was not accurate. In the blink of an eye, everything that he thought was the driving force behind all his dreams and aspirations to be great and pursue a dream, vanished. He discovered that he was living in a fantasy world, when the cold reality was that it was all a lie. In the blink of an eye, he realized that he was who he said he was... "Easy". In the blink of an eye, someone so full of life, potential and the determination to be great, would hit rock bottom. In the blink of an eye, he would fall to his proverbial knees and into an emotional state of sorrow, and grief. In a blink of an eye everything he thought he wanted, everything he thought he had, would be gone.
The Blink: You know how people sometimes say... "That would never happen to me..", "If it was me, I would do this, do that", or the ultimate classic statement of... "I wish a mutha sucka would !" etc. The list goes on and on about what people say they would do if certain situations or scenarios was to happen with them. The reality is that it sounds good, until you blink and find yourself in that very scenario. And for the artist, everything that he thought he would do would go out the window. Because in his blink the reality of his fantasy world was now able to be seen. Lets be real. Everyone has a different blink moment. This was his.
What would you do?: This moment in time would be the worst that the artist had ever experienced before. The feeling cannot be described, but sad was an understatement. After all. You just so happen to stumble across the one person in your life that you loved more than anyone else in the world, with someone whom you've known for nearly all of your life, and foolishly felt that you could trust, together, in a unforgiving compromise position. What would you do? Because there he was. "Easy" (like his name). Looking like a sap, soft, yet calmly enraged. Honestly. Had there been a weapon, more than likely a "crime of passion" would've occurred. However. There was no weapons. As a matter of fact... there was nothing. No yelling, no screaming, nothing. Instead, he just stood there, looking at... nothing. And although his mind was racing, everything seemed to be moving in slow motion. His spirit had been crushed, defeated. And with one last look at disappointment, and he would just turn and walked away. As he walked and walked he would finally find his way back to the place he once shared with that love of his life.
Out of nowhere was a voice. "Are you okay?" It was a simple question. But the reality was that he wasn't okay. Physically he could see, but mentally, everything was blurry and he was in a bad space of feeling.
Choice & Consequence: Pain effects people in different ways. An American country singer named Johnny Lee had a song in the 80's called "Lookin for love in (all the wrong places)". The artist and all his pain, anguish and grief, would allow a simple moment of kindness, to overshadow his self-wallowing, and self-pity. His irrational sense of needing to be loved. Would have him looking for unrealistic love, in the wrong place.
And without true conscience of thoughts, pain and betrayal had his emotions were all over the place. And because of his own self-pity he handled it in the wrong way. And because of his lapse in rational judgement, his actions would put him in a situation that would create a scenario that would place him in front of a court of law.
The Trial and The Tribulation: From this point forward is about how the artist and his lack of self-awareness and poor decisions, would turn a personal moment of reflection into an even worse moment that will forever change his life. This story going forward isn't about the cause, affect, or the reason why things happened. But this part of the artist story is about the chain of events that would involve the law and ultimately the bad side of the judicial system. How corrupt prosecutors, lawyers, and judges are systematic locking of men, women and children of color at an alarming rate in the United States of America. And how the dilemma of MASS INCARCERATION is plaguing America today. Again. This is not about the situation that put the artist in the position that he was facing because of his own careless decisions. This is about the process in which the judicial system of America can be unjust and fail.
The Facts: The reason that we are here in the first place is because the artist and his irresponsible behaviour. His actions created a scenario to have a victim, and because of that, the artist has put himself in front of a court of law. Out of respect to the other parties involved, there will be no discussion regarding any details of the events that took place on this platform*. For what its worth. The artist had not tried to get out of anything. The artist had fully cooperated with everything involving law enforcement authorities. They asked him to report to them regarding the situation at hand, and he did. Once in formal custody he was official charged, then released on a PR (personal recognizance) bond. At this point all the artist wanted to do was own up too what had occurred and to take responsibility for his actions and the chain of events. After all. It was him alone that has caused all the turmoil and chaos and there was no need to have things go any further than it had, and he was willing to answer to what he was facing regarding other people involved. For him, the least that he could do was to not fight anything that he had coming his way because of what the other party and their family had to go thru because of his bullsh*t. And although it would not be the kind of victim that would be created later by the judicial system, at the end of the day, they were still a victim just the same.
The Manipulation: All throughout this process regarding the events surrounding the artist and the criminal charges against him. The one thing that was constant was the truth. From the very beginning it was 100% about the artist getting himself caught up in a situation stemming from an unfortunate personal incident which allowed his lack of good judgement to place him in a court of law to face what he had done to get there. Why? The artist had once attended Kellogg Community College seeking a degree in... Criminal Justice. The artist has always had a respect for the justice system and wanted to be a part of making things better. And it was because of the trust that he had in the system, that he put his faith in believing that things will turn out the right way, even if it meant receiving punishment for something that he justly deserved, which was reason for not denying the truth.
The Corruptness: While the artist was prepared for the outcome of his actions. The Prosecuting Attorney (PA) had a whole different agenda up their sleeve. Lets be reminded that the artist was in court to face the problem that he had created. There was no fear or worry about anything that he was not expecting to happen. He would explain the events and deal with the consequences. He was confident about the system doing what was right and just regarding the scenario. He felt no need to "hire" an attorney and chose to go with a Court Appointed (CP), because for the artist it was a cut and dry case that didn't warrant spending money just to tell the truth.
However. The artist would be wrong in that decision to not "hire" an attorney. For when the trial begin and out the gate. What would take place was a disgusting miscarriage of justice. For whatever the reason, the PA created such a false narrative pertaining to the events, as he painted a picture that was 100% not the truth, a lie, fabrication. EVERYTHING that the PA said in court was made up by them. All the artist could do was look in disgust as the PA disrespected everything that he was supposed to do as the person in charge of finding the truth.
He had place the other party involved on the witness stand, his witness. And from that moment he preceded to have them say so many things contradicting the truth of what had actually happen between them and the artist. Horrible things. Things that would warrant horrible results and rightfully so, had they'd been true. It was disheartening for the artist to see and hear how the PA used and manipulated the other party involved into lying under oath in a court of law. It was even harder for the artist to see how uncomfortable the other party involved was. You could see and feel their struggle to blatantly lie and go with the story that the PA was orchestrating But why the false story? Maybe cause if the PA was to present the truth it wouldn't be worth the courts time. So instead he painted this horrible picture, that this man in the courtroom should be in prison for life. Back then the artist couldn't understand the motivation behind the antics of the Prosecuting Attorney, but today he knows full well the corrupt reason.
"A truthful witness gives honesty testimony, A false witness tells lies"
PROVERBS 12:17
The Truth Shall Set You Free: The District Attorney fabricated and presented to the court a false narrative, for what can only be equated to being for his own personal gain and satisfaction. And while it seemed that his corrupt motivation was a success. He didn't anticipate what was to come. The PA had "used" his witness. Had them lie to the courts over and over again to something that did not happen. Again it was hard to watch the PA witness in such an uncomfortable state. Instead of just hearing the truth of the events between the artist and the other person, he chose to have that person lie to the courts. However. At the end of the day, the other person involved had a conscience, stood fast on their own principle, or maybe even to just honor a family legacy. Be that as it may. At the end of the day they made the decision to no longer be manipulated and used by the PA and eventually... they told "THE TRUTH". And for that, the artist is forever grateful and thankful.
Pride is an evil thing. For even after the witness for whom the PA had initially manipulated and used to create falsehood against the artist, ultimately confessed "THE TRUTH". The PA allowed their pride to interfere with its obligation to honor their job and subsequently, they refused to even honor and accept "THE TRUTH" of his own witness. Instead of gracefully adhering to the facts to dismiss the bogus charges after "THE TRUTH" was revealed. Not only did he disrespect "THE TRUTH". He wanted the artist to take a bogus plea in order to as they would put it, to just satisfy the courts time. The artist refused the PA plea offer because the confession of "THE TRUTH" was revealed, and the PA had painted such a smear against the artist that any plea of that nature would seem as if what he presented was true. But after the plea was rightfully rejected, the PA had one last trick up his sleeve in order to satisfy his pride. The PA used his power of persuasion and manipulation on the jury, regardless that their shameful tactic used would 100% violate the Constitutional Rights of the artist.
The Lawyer Decision: The difference between hiring an attorney and having one appointed by the courts (CP) was a bad decision that would come into play during crucial moments of the trial. The PA had violated every principle of law. First knowingly and encouraging false testimony from his witness, secondly violating the artist constitutional rights in the process. Another note of consequence that should be said at this moment, is that the Judge presiding over the trial had made referenced and acknowledged to the fact, that the PA unconstitutional tactics during trial had warranted action by the court appointed CP, however the CP had failed to properly execute the actions necessary that would have made a difference. The only problem is, being that the judge had recognized the PA's violation of the artist Constitutional Rights, you would think that he would have taken the responsibility to make sure his courtroom was not in said violations, whether if the CP had failed or not to do his own job. Subsequently, because of incompetence, the artist would be unjustly convicted for a crime in which he DID NOT commit, and the judge as he said, "by law" had to enforce a sentenced. And as if he was doing the artist a favor, the artist was sentenced to serve 2 -10 years in prison, instead the PA request of 20 years even after knowing "THE TRUTH".

Dept. of Corrections: Needless to say. Because of his Unjust Incarceration, inmate 228147 was not a model prisoner. Receiving dozens of disciplinary infractions (tickets), placed in the Hole (solitary confinement) several times for negative conduct towards prison staff etc. After all, he wasn't supposed to be there. During this incarceration he was denied parole over and over for simply refusing to admit to a crime that he did not commit. Some would say, why not just say yes and be released? Because after all your freedom was on the line. While that may seem like a no brainer to most. For the artist It was about standing on the principle of "THE TRUTH".
It can be easy to get caught up in the perils of prison and lose yourself in the chaos and discord that is prison life. Prisons have purpose they are not meant to be resorts. They're meant to be a place of discipline and some individuals deserve to be there, its a world that you wouldn't wish it upon your worst enemy. There should also be a place for rehabilitation and earned second chances for those that truly warrant a second chance. During the artist incarceration, there was the unfortunate opportunity to have seen different men from all walks of life and circumstances. Every religion and every race of men. Sons, brothers, uncles, fathers. He lived with men that will never see freedom again because of their bad decisions. He watched some men given the chance go home, and yet watched those same men return. He also witness the death of men before they've had their own chance to go home. But after 10 straight years of hardship it was time for the artist to go home with a fresh chance at life. Well at least that's what he thought.
On the very day of being released from prison and before he could even walk out a "free man", the system had another trick up its sleeve. Inmate 228147 was handed a piece of paper letting him know there was a warrant for his arrest for failing to pay child support during his 10 years of incarceration. And because he had not paid any child support during that 10 year incarceration he owed $121,000 in back child support. And with that... The next level of this journey had begun.
Down By Ten: The artist was released from prison with a warrant, a tan outfit, bus ticket, a prison check around $70 dollars, a felony child support debt over a $100,000 with a sarcastic "Good luck!". After 10 years the real world had changed quite a bit. Although he had watched from a distance thru television, magazines etc., it was not the same. He had lost a step, he was indeed behind. But he would quickly learn what it meant to be a convicted felon, especially one with a specific "offender" label.
There was no real jobs available, well at least not for the convicted artist. Job applications were a joke, and he would go from temp job to temp job, nothing real. A lot of under the table money for a hard days work. Living back in his hometown which was now a ghost town for the most part, wasn't going to cut it and the artist had to do something drastic to change his existence. He was broke, homeless and owed $121,000 in child support. He would find himself in Interfaith shelter, Jackson Michigan. The artist would actually be there for a while trying to get his act together. The shelter really helped in his recovery to be great. They helped him get his life on track and he eventually was able to move into his own place with the help of resources like the CAA.
But it was an constant uphill battle to try and stay afloat. Being a felon and trying to be successful was full of challenges. You always found yourself on the end of some scapegoat bullsh*t. Every 90 day temp job to be hired ended up fired at 80+ days or so. Till he finally got a real good paying permanent job at a place called Midbrook. It was great. But after awhile it wasn't worth it. Because child support was taking it all. The artist actually received a check that said $0.00. How was that even legal? At one time the artist worked 3 straight shifts and weekend just to get decent paycheck to live. That didn't last long at all, it was physically and mentally exhausting.
The Child Support Hustle: Because of his inability to put a significant dent in the $121,000 in back child support, "The System" continued to arrest and place the artist in jail several times after his release in 2002. Ultimately the artist was forced to take a plea for 2 erroneous felonies for that back child support debt, or go back to prison for an additional 5 year term. The irony is that he "plead guilty" to the charges of accumulating $121,000 worth of child support 'while' in prison for 10 years. However. Unlike the first time where he refused to take even a misdemeanor charge because he was "NOT GUILTY" of the crime in 1992, this time his hands were tied. This was 100% a no-win scenario. Although the system knew he was In prison during the 10 year accumulation of child support, they said he still owed the money anyway. So it was either agree to pay the money or go back to prison for 5 years. That was 2012.
Today. Although not "physically" incarcerated because of a corrupt plea deal that was taken under duress. A plea that was taken in order to avoid another unjust incarceration. As part of that plea he must pay and has continued to pay to this day, over $300 dollars a month in child support, even though the youngest child of that support order is now a mother of 4 herself. It would maybe hit a little different if the adult children were the ones who actually received the monthly support. However. They do not. The System has enabled the mother of those adult children to receive "that money". Even allow the taking of yearly tax returns etc. But that's another story for another day about the FOC Hustle.
MASS INCARCERATION: So many men, women and children are forced to be a part of a system that is designed to fail you. That this systematic problem can destroy the lives of individuals and their families, forever. Everyone can't speak or be heard. Everyone doesn't share the same path in life. The artist has had some major trials and tribulations, some of them self inflicted, but yet he make no excuses. Your supposed to learn and grow, show others how to do the same by example.
In that courtroom in 1992 no one placed the artist there but himself. However. The artist stood fast on the gravity of the moment, and was willing to deal with whatever was going to happen based on "THE TRUTH". Once the truth was revealed, he was good and his conscience was clear. There was nothing the system could do to him mentally. At the end of the day, they knew "THE TRUTH", but chose not to respect it. That's on them. He would not allow their corruption to corrupt him. Yes, physically the system would control every aspect of his life. When to sleep, when to eat. But he refused to be broken by their design. "The Truth Had Set Him free". Who better to appreciate the validity of such a statement, than one whos life is the reality and significance of such a precious statement.
The journey of the artist to get to this point began over 30 years ago. If he could go back in time and change the outcome and not have to endure how it effects his life today would he? No. Because it will still start off with being "Not Guilty" of a crime that didn't exist. Yes. He is embarrassed by the circumstances surrounding him being incarcerated 1992. But he is not ashamed of something that he did not do. One thing that he's learned about himself. He's strong, resilient, and forgiving. The powers that be have not broken his spirit, have not diminished his faith in the overall goodness of people. For throughout all the nonsense, the crap, the outright dirtiness of how the penal system can be. He has remained constant in who he is. He had maintained his sanity. He had kept his... "COMPOSHURE".
What's In a Name?: The name of COMPOSHURE is the description of his character and how he lives his life today. Music is a part of his DNA, and the fabric of what makes him. For all his life music has been his getaway, his passion. Even while unjustly incarcerated, the artist let music be his relief from all the turmoil of prison life. Even producing music and shows for those with musical aspirations. And while he has created music for others in the past. This journey and his mission today is to be in the forefront, and to be a voice for those who cannot be heard.
Music & Beyond: Todays goals is all about pursuing the dream of music. Although the prime of any musical career for Composhure is behind him, the aspirations are still the same. Music is a part of his DNA, it is his gift that he's been blessed with to share with the world. His mission is to share that gift by creating an avenue for others to pursue their dreams. Myemi Intertainment is the name of his music business created just for that opportunity. With the world being saturated with music labels of all kinds, it seems as if the true essence of music has faded away. No longer are the days of love, respect or even joy. Now its about bragging, disrespecting each other etc. No substance and no meaning. That's not all music, but it is most of todays music in the genre that Composhure grew up listening too.
With Myemi Intertainment, his mission is to bring back good music that everyone can listen to without restrictions or advisory labels. Being a 60s baby growing up in the 70s & 80s and being a young adult in the 90s help shaped what music was for Composhure. Music tell stories. And who better to share his story thru music than Composhure himself. His music leaves no stone unturned. That's what makes good music. Being able to relate to the listener in some capacity. Composhure music is from the heart, trials and tribulations. The good and the bad, the happy and the sad. Just the echoes of life. And while every life journey is different, they all share the exact same thing... You only get one. So if you have the opportunity, make the best of it. Believe in yourself no matter the circumstances. The artist Composhure is a living testament, that you can succeed if you have the will and belief.
While COMPOSHURE has been able to strive and flourish in spite of the challenges and difficulties for being a 3x convicted felon, (one for the original conviction, and two more for felony child support while incarcerated). There are others who will never get that 2nd chance. And while he does not consider himself to be your conventional felon. He is still a convicted felon just the same. He is a part of the official statistics. He is One of Millions in the judicial system. And because of that, he knows that he has an obligation to be the voice of millions. To be the example of second chances. To represent that side of society and all the stigma that comes along with it. Not everyone incarcerated deserves a second chance, for there are those who choices dictate that they do not. But there are way more that do deserve than don't. The system in America needs to re-evaluate the way it has filled its jails and prisons. It is universally unfair, and bias to different segments of society.
Composhure made decisions that led him to being incarcerated, fair or unfair. His bad judgements put him in bad categories. That being said. Not only did he learn more about himself, he also learned about the corrupt practices of Mass Incarceration in America. His journey and survival has led to his mission to raise awareness about the perils of the judicial system. For that reason he has created the AMILLIONMUGZ FOUNDATION L3C. The meaning behind the name is that it represents support for the millions of mugshots within the judicial system. Every race, gender, and name from A to Z that are currently or have been incarcerated. Those who are striving to find their way and to be better than what they were before. AMILLIONMUGZ. Millions of the voiceless. Composhure has the chance to be a voice and example of second chances. To use his words thru his music to uplift others, and let his journey of life by example be an inspiration. His obligation to represent is strong, sincere because he is one of them mugshots. ONEOF... AMILLIONMUGZ.
Spelled with an "H". The H is for being Humbled by all the different things that life has thrown his way, without him losing his way.
